Google Ads for Plumbing Companies

Plumbing has the highest intent traffic in home services and some of the fastest ways to waste a budget. Here is how to tell the difference between a busy month and a profitable one.

01

Emergency intent is the whole game

Plumbing searches split into two moods: a burst pipe at eleven at night, and a bathroom being planned over a month. The first is the highest intent traffic in home services and it is priced accordingly. The second behaves much more like a construction lead.

If your account treats them the same, your emergency keywords are subsidising slow projects, or the other way round, and you cannot see which. Split the campaigns and the picture becomes obvious within a couple of weeks.

A burst pipe at midnight and a bathroom remodel are not the same customer.

02

Service area is where the money disappears

Plumbing is a radius business. A lead forty minutes outside your normal route costs you an hour of labour before the job even starts, and most accounts have no idea how much of their spend lands out there. Draw the boundary you actually want to serve, then make the campaign respect it.

Postcode level exclusions and a landing page that names the towns you cover do more for plumbing profitability than most bid strategy changes. If a homeowner cannot tell within five seconds that you serve their area, they leave.

A lead forty minutes away costs you an hour before the job starts.

03

The jobs you do not want

Some searches are cheap for a reason. Drain clearing, minor leaks, and warranty style call outs can fill a schedule without paying for the truck. That is a choice, not a mistake, but it has to be a deliberate one. Decide which jobs you want the ads to produce, then measure the campaign against those jobs only.

A blended cost per lead hides this completely. A forty dollar average lead cost is excellent if those leads are water heater installs and terrible if they are twenty minute drain calls.

A forty dollar lead is a bargain for a water heater and a disaster for a drain call.

04

Response time beats everything else

In plumbing the first company to answer usually wins. Not the cheapest, not the best reviewed, the one who picked up. If your phone goes to voicemail after hours, the campaign is paying to generate leads for whoever answers.

Track your answer rate the same way you track spend. It is the single number that decides whether the same budget produces twice the work.

The company that answers wins. Not the cheapest one.

What a good audit looks like

We look at where your calls actually come from, which services produce booked jobs, how much spend lands outside your radius, and whether tracking counts phone calls at all. Then we tell you the order we would fix things in. No case studies, no borrowed numbers, just your account.

Where the calls come from. Which services book. What you actually pay.
